There are certain assumptions people make about remote work that really piss me off. One of them is that when you're working remotely you have the flexibility to do more household chores, hobbies, etc. Actually not. When you work from home you are expected to be at your system and available just like you would be at a desk job. If you are upstairs repotting a spider plant or doing extra loads of laundry and not at your desk when you're supposed to be, that is called time theft. It's a firing offense. If you thought this sort of thing was okay, please don't ever get a remote job because it is fuckwits like you who make the rest of us look bad.
ALSO, you need certain arrangements to work effectively. For example, having a good spot with good lighting that doesn't cause eye strain in a temperature comfortable environment. Not, say, shoved to the living room because the kitchen table at the farm - where you didn't want to be in the first place - is needed for some meeting held during your working hours and you're stuck in front of a window where:
1. It is fucking HOTTER THAN HELL
2. The backlighting makes your screens impossble to see
3. You're working on a shitty table that is too high and you can't type because of it
No more trips to the farm where I have to work remotely unless people stay out of my hair with chores, other bullshit, and are fucking with the work environment I need to be effective.
