This is my coworker Garrett. He's actually two different Garretts and the one you know depends on the context you know him in. I knew him first as Garrett Buchfink. We got hired into an insurance brokerage at roughly the same time, studied together, got our insurance licenses together. I went into commercial insurance and he started in personal lines and then moved to life and benefits. I mostly didn't know a lot more about him because we're very different people. He's short, I'm, uh, not short, he's personable while I socialize well with kitchen appliances, and so on. I have tons of professional respect for the guy. Super smart and he's amazing at his job. He managed to pass every Alberta life licensing exam on the first try in a single month. That is some John Wick "impossible task" level shit right there.
One day there's all this commotion at work and I ask what's going on? "Garrett's new video just dropped." That's when I learned that to a lot of other people he is Garrett Gregory, local country music sensation. The guy is an amazing singer, amazing songwriter, and OMG that fucking voice of his. I'm not a country music guy and I'll always find time for one of Garrett's songs, which is one of the bigger compliments I can hand him.
So why the two names? Well, he's technically Garrett Gregory Buchfink (pronounced Boofink) and I guess the last name is a bit of a non-starter for a country artist. It is also, admittedly, somewhat open to abuse. One of the office jokes is, "two in the pink and one in the Buchfink", which I have to take ownership of. There's really nothing that I can't make worse; it's my super power. So, yeah. He's Garrett Gregory (Dub G) when he performs.
It doesn't really matter which version of him you get, he's awesome either way. (You can find more on him here at his official website.)
