A stack of furniture like this next to the back alley was considered a "prime score" when I was a young adult. No noticeable bad odor when standing close, not too stained (but stained enough) and comfortable for long gaming sessions on the Super Nintendo. Also not something you would feel bad about spilling your beer on, a problem that got worse as the evening wore on and the beer supply wore out.
Normally you can help yourself when stuff is placed beside the back alley like this, but it's always best to show up with your friend with the truck at 2 am to take it anyhow. Also made it more fun.
