The AMC Concorde was not the goddamn ugliest car ever made, but it was up there. It also had a habit of falling apart faster than you could tape it back together. Nearly everything made by AMC (American Motors Corp) in the late seventies had that issue. So for this POS company with their POS cars to launch the modern S.U.V. is quite something. I was in my tweens when the AMC Eagle crossover was released and suddenly owning an AMC went from being a joke to being my jam. A car with AWD! All Wheel Drive! Screw goddamn ugly, that's goddamn useful.

As it warms up over the next few months it will become apparent that one of the things that is on my mind a lot - besides photography - is camping. The moment I first saw an AMC Eagle I knew it was a vehicle for people who camped. First, because it could go off-road some. I mean very light off-roading through a greasy campsite, not the crazy stuff. The first one I also saw was a station wagon. You can sleep in the back of one of those - damn thing is bear proof. Perfect camping mobile.

When my friend James and I cruised through Baron, AB, on Saturday I saw one in fairly good nick. Truth is I'd love to own it. And camp in it.
